About Asya Kovacheva
Who I am, the circumstances I found myself in and my thirst for knowledge brought me to Ayurveda and to Biofeedback. The book Ten: Ayurvedic Portraits is my way of bringing Ayurveda into your life and I love seeing the results Biofeedback brings. Here, I share a little of my journey so you can see how this all came to be.
I love reading books. I do not remember ever not reading. As a child I rarely played with other children on the street. Instead I loved staying at home reading books and painting. I practically learned to read by myself and my mother, at the age of 6, enrolled me at school a year early (in Bulgaria children start school at age 7). At age 10, I started piano lessons because I was fond of music and it was then that I began to understand the beauty and strength of the music. I graduated from the Grammar Music School in my home town with a speciality in piano and went on to graduate with the same specialty at Southwestern University “N. Rilski “in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. I was fortunate to have Prof. Dr. Yordan Goshev as my teacher who transformed my playing for which I am extremely grateful for.
At 21, I went to America on a student program. I lived and worked in Chicago for almost three years and was one of the most important stages in my life. I became an adult there: I became an independent person, believing in and relying mostly on myself. During this time my parents and my brother Kiril provided support when I needed it but also let me be self-sufficient for which I am truly thankful. I appreciate that they still support me and never question my privacy. With acquired self-confidence and financial independence and stability, my life has continued in full force. I finished my education and was awarded my Bachelor of Music.
Fate brought me together with my husband with whom I created our own company in the famous ski resort Bansko, Bulgaria working with foreigners. I loved my job. He was the engine and the owner, and I helped with everything – website maintenance, customer relationship, insurance, maintenance and furnishing, sales and rental of apartments, transportation to the airport.
When I got married, I got pregnant and gave birth to my son, Nikola, and everything in me changed. From Asya Dineva I became Asya Kovacheva: from an extrovert, partying and smoking 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day, I became an introverted woman, preferring home comforts. I was happy with my child, listening to music, singing Bulgarian and English songs, reading books, nursing him for the first 18 months. Then, I was very careful about what I ate and how I lived; I had left all the unhealthy habits behind before the wedding. 11 years have already passed since I stopped smoking. I replaced smoking with sports: tennis and fitness, followed by dancing and now hiking, daily walks and yoga. Birth changed something in me. Until then, I liked to read Bulgarian historical books but in order to preserve my own and my child’s health, I started to buy books by the great spiritual teachers and healers Peter Dimkov, and Peter Danov. I also loved the book by Dr Fitzhugh Dodson ‘The Art of Being a Parent’. They changed me and my attitude towards others and the world.
One day, I booked a quantum biofeedback session out of curiosity and after the session I went home and searched the Internet for more information. My husband said, “You do not stop reading and searching additional info. Let’s buy a device and you can work as a biofeedback consultant!” I couldn’t believe it but I really wanted a device. They were expensive, the price of a nice studio in our town, but I could not think of anything else so we bought it in 2010. Here I want to thank my husband Bisser for never stopping me from doing anything but, on the contrary, always supporting me by urging me to develop, to seek and to make my own dreams come true. I travelled to Budapest to study all three levels. I started slowly – studying every spare minute with my textbooks and the device. There is a huge amount of information and the only way to start to understand the process of a biofeedback session is to study over and over again until every step and program is in your head. So until my son was going in the Kindergarten, I start living with the fates and the problems of my clients. During this time my husband opened the first health shop in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. We divided the space to house a separate studio where I could see my clients. I learned a lot about food, herbs, and alternative treatments. Since then I have bought and read hundreds of books on alternative medicine, feng shui, astrology, mysticism, vibration medicine, and more. I have met hundreds of clients and have listened to and, I myself, have been a participant in their lives.
